Time is up, but I accomplished my immediate goals. And was also greeted with a pleasant surprise.
We were going to throw out this conspicuous heater, but inexplicably...
... we flip the switch, throw two breakers, and it works! And while some of the coils don’t seem to function, it’s still putting out a hell of a lot warmer than what’s outside. Do you know what this means? Dry AND heated oil changes in the winter. Oh yessssss...
Other things: tidied up and replace the garage door gasket. Old one was rock hard and chipped apart like a sun-dried windshield wiper blade.
Four days, 29 hours, maybe $150 total between dump runs, some miscellaneous stuff at Home Depot, and food.
I’m incredibly exhausted.

Great job! In my head I was comparing my new garage with absolutely nothing in it, no shelves, no bench, no nothing to yours with all the things but also a lot that needed to be cleaned out and thinking my situation wasn’t so bad but that heater changes things. That’s gold!

I am trying to figure out how to get 220 out to my garage so I can have a heater that really heats without spending $1000s with an electrician. Great deal on the working heat.

This doesn’t take a 220, although it has 3 wires from the breaker box, tied to two 110 breakers, then a small wire connected to the thermostat.
Also this heater is very old and I assume incredibly inefficient, so don’t bother to envy too bigly.

Awesome, and a bit of heat is an awesome bonus to wrap it up. I bet it smelled good when it first heated up after sitting for who knows how long :)
